In each contest, our intention is always to help others learn from or simply relate, feeling less alone and more supported.

Sharing is caring, so in addition to wearing your masks, staying home if you're sick, and maintaining social distancing, sharing what you've learned can dramatically help a fellow Rhode Islander.  The Coronavirus Pandemic has affected us all differently, yet it has affected us all.  If you have figured something out, found a way to manage stress or feel good about Back-to-School or positively engage your children or console an anxious friend or find an inspiration or insight .... it's all good (great, actually!).  It all matters and can have a dramatic impact on others.  Every one of us needs encouragement and inspiration.

When we share, we learn from each other; we help each other; we become stronger, together.

We invite the kids to share as well!

If your kiddos have found ways to adjust, to be ok, to be even better than ok, we'd like to hear those stories and inspirations as well.  Any child who shares their experience(s), ideas(s), and positive, infectious attitude will be entered into a regular drawing to win one of many prizes!   (And they surely deserve it!!)

We'll post all of your suggestions right here (as well as where it's appropriate throughout StaySafeRhodeIsland.com.

THANK YOU

SO VERY MUCH!

Here's the answer to the

GRANDMA & TROLL

brain teaser:

You are on your way to visit your Grandma, who lives at the end of the valley. It's her birthday, and you want to give her the cakes you've made.

Between your house and her house, you have to cross 7 bridges, and as it goes in the land of make believe, there is a troll under every bridge! Each troll, quite rightly, insists that you pay a troll toll. Before you can cross their bridge, you have to give them half of the cakes you are carrying, but as they are kind trolls, they each give you back a single cake.

How many cakes do you have to leave home with to make sure that you arrive at Grandma's with exactly 2 cakes?

Answer

2: At each bridge you are required to give half of your cakes, and you receive one back. Which leaves you with 2 cakes after every bridge.

"I make sure that I spend at least 15 minutes feeling the sunshine every day, the brightness and the heat.  It's energizing.  So is daily exercise. I've also learned to set boundaries and let my family members know when I need some time to myself and they respect that at least 70% of the time.  Hahaha.  Oh yeah, keeping a sense of humor is important too!"

- Susan Hadley, Exeter, RI

"This was (and is) a perfect time to adopt a dog (any age - we adopted a puppy).  Most people are home more and having a new member of the family at home makes it more fun for everyone.  Go visit your local shelter!"

- Sam & Mackey, Richmond, RI
